Once the
domain of carefully restored period homes and upper-echelon custom dwellings,
the beloved traditional look of raised wall paneling is now available
at a price that won’t break a homeowner’s budget.
At Cincinnati-based Heritage Raised Panels, making homes beautiful at
affordable costs is a mission. Their wainscoting, judges panels and box-beam
ceilings turn a nondescript dining room or foyer into a work of art. Full-wall
library panels lend a unique ambiance of elegance and tradition, while
fireplace surrounds with matching bookcases bring unbeatable style and
functionality to a family’s most-used rooms. Best of all, an investment
in raised paneling can potentially increase a home’s value almost
dollar-for-dollar.
“As a custom cabinet maker for more than 25 years, I spent plenty
of time in designing high-end residential woodwork and cabinetry, and
I fell in love with the way raised paneling brought character and elegance
to a room,” said Heritage founder Gary Schaffeld “I knew there
had to be a way to bring those classic designs to modern homes at more
mainstream prices, and I set out to find it.”
Schaffeld thoroughly researched homes in Philadelphia and Charleston to
study the fine attributes of quality historical raised panel construction.
Then he returned home to Cincinnati to find a way to bring wainscoting,
library and judges panels, box beam ceilings and more to modern mid- to
upper-range homes. Years of work led him to develop the unique patent-pending
manufacturing process that Heritage uses today. This process takes less
time to make and requires less time to install, resulting in up to 30
to 60 percent cost savings over traditional raised paneling. And, because
Heritage’s materials are uniquely manufactured as a single piece
that are cleverly joined with an innovative interlocking system, the panels
will never crack or separate.
Perhaps the most appealing aspect of Heritage panels is their versatility.
By utilizing different paint color combinations and textures, raised wall
panels can take a room from classic to modern, cool and relaxing to warm
and energizing. No need to change the panels themselves – a new
coat of paint and decorating inspiration are all that’s required.
The Heritage product line includes wainscoting, judges panels, library
panels, McIntosh/Arts & Crafts panels, fireplace surrounds and over
mantels, box beam ceilings, columns, stairway panels, built-in bookcases
and media centers. Every piece is custom tailored for the room in which
it will be installed.
Founded in 2003, Heritage Raised Panels (formerly Advantage Architectural
Panels) is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. True to the character of its beautiful
yet practical midwestern hometown, Heritage produces heirloom-quality
raised panels recreating the prized traditional wall and wainscot panels
of yesteryear at affordable prices.
